Government Ensures Electricity Subsidies Continue in 2021

 The government ensures that electricity subsidies for the community will continue in 2021. This subsidy is part of efforts to recover the economy as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) who is also Chairman of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN) Erick Thohir emphasized the commitment of Indonesian President Joko Widodo to ensure that people whose economies are affected by the pandemic still receive stimulus from the government.

 According to him, subsidized electricity costs will still apply in accordance with the system that has been in effect before.

 Customers with 450 VA power will get a full fee waiver or free.  This is proof of the government's support for economically vulnerable communities.

 Erick also explained that the electricity cost subsidy also refers to customers with 900 VA power.  This subsidy extension takes effect in the first quarter of 2021, namely January to March.  Then we will look again at the possibility to continue to extend the subsidy according to the conditions of the affected community.

 "The government has decided to extend the period of providing PLN electricity cost relief assistance in the form of a 100 percent discount or free for 450 VA household customers and a 50 percent discount for 900 VA power household customers for the next three months, until March 2021," said Erick.  .

 In addition, the government also ensures that all social safety devices will continue.  All in order to ensure that the handling of COVID-19 is carried out comprehensively between health and economic recovery.
